PAMPLONA ALTA

Las Lomas de Pamplona

The Lomas make up one of the principal lungs in the district of San Juan de Miraflores, and one of the few places within Lima where the emblematic flor de amancaes continues to flower.

They also constitute unique and seasonal ecosystems that inhabit the coastal desert. Even being one of the most important natural area of the district, they currently face challenges due to the rise in human activity.

Arpillería Workshop

Migrants and daughters of migrants to Pamplona Alta, San Juan de Miraflores, create works of arpillería—a colorful art which recreates iconic moments and gorgeous landscapes. Using cuts of recycled fabrics, the artisans of Pamplona Artex spread culture from the coast, sierra and jungle with a social consciousness.

"The most difficult and demanding part was the research and recreation of distinct countries of the world with their dress, characters, and costums."

"El Brillante" Residents' Association

A unique experience of self-management centered around the development of a local microeconomy which contributes to the community's well-being. In addition to its communal cafeteria, with its socially conscious prices, "El Brillante" offers spaces of creation. In the library and mini-theater, for example, diverse workshops take place, such as karate, dance, and theater. Outside, the sporting grounds are open to the public for the diversion of the entire community.
